MIKE HARES Teacher trained puppeter with 30 years experience of working with children.
WORKSHOPS
Using a very quick and durable paper sculpting technique, recycled
materials, and an enormously varied array of coulorful and
inspirational decorations, every participant will create a unique
puppet.
Teachers involved will also learn a new technique which may be applied to many other projects.
I am also always happy to modify workshops to schools requirements,
working with other puppet techniques-shadows, giant puppets, etc.
I am comfortable working with all ages and abilities and have much experience of taking children right through to performance.
RECENT FEEDBACK FROM SCHOOLS *Caynham School (Ludlow)—‘Workshop instructions were clear,
the resources well organised, plentiful & interesting. Constructive
& supportive feedback was given to the children during the puppet
making session..
All of the children enjoyed the making process very much. “It’s the best thing I’ve ever made!”a quote from one of the children.
Thank you it was a good day. Alison Morgan
*Holy Cross Primary (Edinburgh)—‘It
was evident as soon as I walked into the workshop that all the children
were fully engaged in their puppet making process. Mike had a fantastic
nature with the children and I could see a positive response from all
the children, who were animated & excited to tell me about their
puppets. The end products were of a very high standard—allowing each
individual to achieve success in this activity. The class are very
proud of their work.
The workshop then led to some excellent work which I had not
anticipated. The work covered has wholly encompassed the Curriculum for
Excellence principles of design & has most certainly created a big
impact within our school community. This work has wholly taken over my
initial Forward Plan but has been meaningful & impacted upon
learners in a big way. I could never have achieved such an impact
through my planned programmes of work.
This experience really brought the class together ----------
moreover, the children were the given the responsibility to use their
knowledge expertise to teach other children within the school to make
puppets------allowing for a really powerful whole school learning
experience to take place.-------
This interdisciplinary work
could not have taken place without the expertise of Mike Hares. A
fantastic learning opportunity that these children will never forget!
Thank you. Gill Young
